Greetings good citizen, the POTUS is overseas attending the G-20 summit as the global economy sinks below the waves (some of it faster than others.)
Naturally, the meeting is being protested by demonstrators who [rightly] believe there are issues our 'out of touch' politicians should be addressing instead of arguing over who gets the lion's share of the world's pie. [all the while stiff-arming the nations not powerful enough to gain admission to the G-20.] (Democracy, we're doing it wrong! begging the question, "If we do it wrong is it still democracy?")
If the strike is having any effect at all (too many truckers on the road and zero reports of mayhem at the planet's airports...although air travel has become a 'crapshoot' at best these days, exemplifying the old capitalist adage of 'you pays your money and you takes your chances')
So much for the www. Eh? Billions of eyeballs but if it's beyond potty humor, the average human doesn't have time, too many cute cat videos to sift through so they can fish for 'likes' on Spacebook.
Sort of weird how some of my friends are on it and others avoid the place like the plague...(probably all those cat videos.)
What curious creatures we are. [But you knew that already.]
I am really starting to wonder what it takes to get people's attention...although certain things keep popping up in the MSM that are direct takes on things I use here in these articles [likely a coincidence.]
This line of questioning brings up another possibility...have people given up? New problems keep cropping up and the already overburdened agencies tasked with addressing them continue to ignore them, just as they keep hoping for an answer to their original questions someday.
Ever wonder why NOTHING gets done? Because of the 'decision-making is beyond your pay grade' mindset.
We've all seen the boss chew his nails to the quick because some hot potato landed in his lap where if he makes the 'wrong decision' it could cost him his job!
Pathetically, the guy HE works for is usually in the same position...and upwards it goes...until we arrive at that cabal I was talking about yesterday.
It STARTS there, the 'thinking is NOT what you're paid to do' BS. Problem is what they are referring to is 'important things' although any issue has the potential to turn volatile with very little provocation and few possess the 'wisdom' to appreciate that.
Thus is our management structure built to 'contain' potential disasters via INACTION.
Which is to point out civilization would have 'seized up completely' if it weren't for the few who know enough to take 'calculated risks'. Every manager puts their career on the line when they make 'what seems like' a routine decision.
To the paranoid there is no such thing as a routine decision, every decision has career ending potential...and when viewed that way it becomes self-fulfilling prophecy.
Notice the logjam of issues waiting for answers?
Some things can't be addressed without the power of a dictator, the almighty because I said so.
When they go unaddressed for a long time the situation begins to take on the appearance of being 'unsolvable' when the solution is there in front of everybody's eyes.
Take homelessness. [Some would say 'and take it very far away please!'] We could solve homelessness overnight and the solution doesn't involve jailing anybody! [The standard capitalist solution for homelessness.]
Like democracy, we are doing the housing thing completely wrong. Worse, now that banking is 'inseparable' from the housing market [which is fatally linked to the jobs market] we have a genuine 'circle of doom' on our hands.
Yet, bizarrely, nobody is interested in this. WTF?
Again, are we bumping our heads against the 'thinking is above your pay grade' meme?
Because if you 'belabor the obvious' to any perceived superior, first you're belittled for having the brass to open your mouth and complain after which you're ridiculed for your 'ignorance'!
"It's more complicated than that, the money has to come from somewhere!" [If you respond 'Shazaam' it goes right over their empty heads!]
Perhaps a society populated by morons gets what it deserves. How unfortunate for the rest of us we get it too?
The good news in the, er, mentally challenged are easily led. All we have to do is show them what we want done!
Soldier on, good citizen! Marital your minions and lead us to victory! [this is going to take cleverness on your part because the none too bright will stop 'doing nothing' when their supervisor notices they have stopped working 'again'.
I suspect our strategy will end up being 'strike in place', meaning report to work, still get paid but do as little as possible. Boring but effective!
You'll know you've been effective when the meetings about 'poor performance' become routine.
There's more than one way to win change [and marching in the street ISN'T IT!]
We shall overcome, Thanks for visiting!
