Greetings good citizen, just finished perusing the headlines and looking past the individual content I'd have to opine civilization is on the ropes.
Understand, we would be looking at much different headlines if it were the day after doomsday just as we'd be worse off if the headlines took a 1984 turn and started proclaiming 'nothing happened today and nothing is going to happen tomorrow, why are you wasting your time with this frivolous pursuit of information?'
What would the headlines read like in a 'functioning' society?
Remove the 'profit motive' and advertising becomes 'educational'. You'd no longer have to wade through tons of BS you aren't interested in just to assure yourself you didn't miss anything important.
Secondly, crime will NOT 'disappear'...that said it will become RARE (although you shouldn't get your hopes up...most 'sensational crimes' are the acts of psychopaths; a 'defect' there appears to be no shortage of.)
The knife fight playing out on today's front page is without parallel and a sign of the disintegration of the very fabric of our society [worn through in many places by the hooray for me and F - U crowd.]
Remove the 'inequity' and leg breaking thugs from the mix and life [for most of us] will become downright 'dull' but in a good way!
Unlike today where 'what's to do' consists mainly of going online and killing strangers for savage entertainment [in itself a dull way to pass time, eventually even that becomes a 'personal best' thing.]
In the future the 'social pages' [remember much of what keeps you doing 'free' stuff is your barely enough to live on paycheck and the steady bleed of expenses you shouldn't have to worry about...mortgage/rent, phone/internet, medical/drugs...all these things are FREE now so you would be free to go out and LIVE instead of being trapped in the house playing 'solitaire'.]
Yes, good citizen, the 'news' would become a welcome thing instead of something to avoid because it has turned into an unending mantra of S.S.D.D. (which nobody is EVER going to do anything about.) because the news would tell you what's new to DO!
Considering our uncontrollable urge to mimic the 'DETAILS' of crimes will NOT be reported. How bizarre 'copycat crimes' are the direct result of an 'unbridled' media.
There is NO NEED for you to know the horrifying details (often embellished by the reporter to increase his/her readership.) Seems the only thing we like more than aping one another is scaring the spit out of one another!
Here's a newsflash for 99% of you...considering you've been hiding under a rock MOST OF YOUR LIFE, almost NONE OF US are 'fit company'!
Part of the rationale behind renewing 'public welcome' events [where you get out of the house and get to KNOW your neighbors...(and the kind of people they are) [What you 'avoid' often tells others more than what you 'volunteer'.]
Sure, you socialize at work (and you're forever on 'social media' fishing for 'likes') but that's not social interaction.
When was the last time you had a beer with the guy next door? Never right?
Truth be told you're not even sure what the guy/gal next door looks like never mind what they think about the weather, so studiously do we avoid human interaction for the two main reasons we shouldn't.
First we are ashamed that we aren't the people we 'pretend' to be. Secondly, we fear the stranger is better than us!
Both of these 'fears' are spectrum wide. Top Gun pilots fear being outshone by wing commanders...and wing commanders fear not 'measuring up' to business moguls.
How ironic the ONLY people free of these 'hang-ups' are (penniless) BUMS! Oh what we could learn from those who don't measure up and DON'T CARE!
They aren't proud of their 'lack of accomplishment' but they aren't ashamed either, it is what it is!
A 'healthy society' is one of 'realists' who appreciate it takes (literally) ALL KINDS to make life WORTH LIVING! [Will we be 'poorer' if the poor are lifted from their poverty? Only if they become 'pretentious'!]
One of humanity's greatest faults is caring more about 'appearance' than 'substance'!
There is no greater wasteland than a heart without pity. If you look at somebody and your first reaction is revulsion then you need to more closely examine yourself and what you 'value'!
Shun the superficial, beauty truly does lie 'within'.
If all you see is the outside then you'll completely miss what's on the inside...[and if it's as ugly/empty as you, watch out!]
The 'for profit' media has spent its reign [soon to end] playing to the empty 'world of I', a solitary place where the lonely seek what doesn't exist inside them. They crave to fill a void that the media exploits to get them to buy things that they tell the empty will 'satisfy' their craving.
And if it doesn't, too bad.
They don't call it 'buyer's remorse' for nothing!
Yes Head, every trip in reveals another layer and if we fail to reach the part that makes decisions it's going to be a mighty Spartan revolt.
What YOU ARE MISSING is 'inclusion'! The media (at the behest of its profit hungry owners) WANT YOU stuck inside, fearful of going out and LIVING!
As long as you focus on lining your 'cocoon' with baubles (that you buy from them) THEY'RE HAPPY [that you aren't out there making common cause with the other victims!]
We are quite a distance from the 'Headlines' good citizen but the path is 'familiar' is it not?
It's because the path is always along the 'the world of I', you see yourself reflected here in every footprint.
It is not until we look beyond the 'world of I' that we are even capable of living life!
Our work is done here, now your job is to go out there and discover what you've been missing!
Thanks once again for letting me inside your head,
Gegner
