Greetings good citizen, seeing how they didn't teleport my aged and unsavory carcass to the midnight buffet last night [My short story 'The Smoke Filled Room' can be found in my collection titled 'Big Questions' available on Amazon.com]
At the tale's center is the question of what if there were a species that, er, 'preferred' eating humans?
All stories start with a kernel, an element that drives the action.
What do you suppose our 'kernel' is? [Here I am, addressing the infamous 'House without Mirrors' (nobody sees themselves in ANY of this which is also somewhat bizarre if you stop and ponder it for a minute.) How did we become so divorced from reality?]
Has sheer boredom driven us around the bend? [The closer you look at humanity the more credible the hypothesis we are some species 'mentally deficient', marooned here to fend for ourselves. Thus the constant drumbeat of counterintuitive rhetoric coming from the clueless sexual intellectuals among us singing the endless praises of 'rugged individualism'.
Zero irony to the fact the most zealous among them is more often than not found dead from starvation face down in a bed of wild edibles...
Stupid aside, what do you suppose is behind this 'death of democracy' phenomenon the media has suddenly started championing?
It is EXACTLY the prelude necessary for a RETURN TO MONARCHY [and all of it's horrors!]
[Wait, Monarchy 2.0 will be 'kinder and gentler', we just have to 'give it a chance'!]
The thing to keep in mind (if that's even possible) is the 'kernel' behind capitalism is 'Every MAN a King!' With the advent of the 'information age' came the 'awareness' that more than half of our species is comprised of females capitalism has (albeit reluctantly) allowed women to 'play' too.
What's 'broken' here? Both models [monarchy and 'monarchy lite'] were conceived of PRIOR to 'automation'.
What does today's 'monarch' yearn for? An totally autonomous kingdom! It never takes breaks, vacations, holidays or sleeps for that matter and it never draws a paycheck!
Better, it 'pays for itself' [this is where the IDIOTS fall on their face. The global economy is disintegrating before our eyes because of the dearth of CUSTOMERS!]
A market without customers is called a 'warehouse' (unless you deal in perishables, then it's called garbage dump.)
The everybody mows each other's lawn premise of capitalism doesn't fly because not everybody has a lawn, just as not everybody has a job! [so labor markets don't go cuckoo!]
How unfortunate for most of us that fake economic stability relies on maintaining a mythical amount of 'slack' in the labor force?
Understand our current 2% unemployment rate is a total fiction with the 'not in the laborforce' numbers exceeding 50%.
Although its more than a little telling the greatest driver of unemployment is the inability to pee in a cup.
You need to get a college degree to avoid random urine testing, how's that for screwed up?
What does that tell you about a world 'managed' by college educated morons? [Don't take that the wrong way. These people AREN'T stupid but they also have no choice. Do what you're told [WITHOUT QUESTION] or I hope you like your next job better!
Which is to point out we have a serious mismanagement problem on our hands that neither Monarchy nor Monarchy-lite has addressed [because whatever the KING says, goes!]
Understand?
Every essay is the beginning of a new novel but nobody has the time for that so we'll just drop this one here, leaving it so you can discuss the implications among yourselves [in the comments if you like/dare] or with your muse if you think stuff like this will get you branded a 'weirdo'.
[Gegner is too old to care!]
Thanks once again for joining me in my 'playground'.
