Greetings good citizen, in the infamous words of Arnold, follow me if you want to live.
Like yesterday, we are 're-visiting' yet another of my favorite hobby horses, the 'meaning of life'. Once you boil away the BS what remains is survival and the ever present question mark of 'How will I live?'
You don't wake up each and every...one is tempted to say 'morning' but that isn't what would wake most of us up, mother natures REAL 'alarm clock' is HUNGER. Once rested the body needs nutrition, fail at this and you become food for anything that didn't fail...including microbes.
Being too weak to hunt (effectively) makes you prey. Zero irony that this single factor has driven humans to become omnivores.
How significant is it that we are not the preferred prey of ANY of this planet's apex predators? This opens the door to speculation that maybe what likes to eat hominids wasn't brought to this planet [but it's out there somewhere...you know it is, it's what gave us our 'big brain'.]
But I digress, of interest to the topic at hand is the food chain and who (at the moment) has seized control of it. We have reduced 'hunting' to stalking the aisles of the supermarket. Everything you want can be found there...for a price.
Like 'lab animals' we rely on processed food to survive. [in that way our population is much larger than it would be 'organically' and that too fertilizes the ground for speculation.
Since we have, er, 'prospered' by over-producing our nutritional requirements, thereby 'liberating' ourselves from the many hours that would have been dedicated to satisfying our seemingly ceaseless hunger. [Even in the beginning we would spend hours 'processing' a kill so as little of it as possible went to waste. Somehow we aren't seeing the aeons it would have taken to teach ourselves this trick, leading the intuitive among us to believe it is a 'learned thing'.]
I 'speculate' that this (our innate organizational abilities) aren't 'natural'. We were taught how to plan ahead by, er, 'creatures' that had other plans for our newfound 'spare time'. So much so that we were even 'trained' to perform the various survival tasks ourselves so they wouldn't have to do it.
Just smart enough to know we're stupid...but that's another whole box of rocks. [How daunting is it that this is still quite an apt description of the 'human condition?]
[Were the ones that 'created' us escapees/abandoned tools of yet another 'alien intelligence?' Is that where we get our superstitious gobbledegook from?] Where do you suppose 'Heaven' is in the cosmos and will we recognize it when we find it? Probably not. We are not them. Their Heaven could very well be our Hell...returning us full circle to the predator/prey cycle and totally redefining the meaning of the term 'playing with your food'...
"Hey maybe this stuff can do more than just taste good with sauce on it!"
[And so was the Flying Spaghetti Monster was created...]
{That was more than digression children, that was a full fledged brain fart: now you're all dead.}
[Focus!]
Meanwhile back on Earth, humanity is hanging by it's tonsils as the 'children of the overseers' continue to make people jump through hoops for their share of the food supply. [Same as it ever was.]
Since indoctrination of the 'origin story' is hammered into your mind from an early age it is futile to even attempt to convince you that 'ancient man' was likely just a curiosity to the race that saw genetic potential in our mimic nature and opposable thumbs.
What we have become is (in my personal opinion) a 'made thing', crafted to serve a single purpose and disposed of once that function was fulfilled. Remember, we are but a 'reflection' of those who created us, a reflection that is only barely aware of what it doesn't know.
We 'shit' on each other because we don't know better. Our 'makers' treated us as 'expendable' and being mimics, we continue to 'copy' what we were shown.
Zero irony that we are intelligent enough to know it is 'wrong' to mistreat our fellow humans but we do it because it's the way it has ALWAYS BEEN DONE!
Can we break the cycle before we break civilization (AGAIN!)
You tell me.
Thanks for letting me inside your head,
Gegner
