Greetings good citizen, again, the knife cuts meat in every direction when the word 'good' displays it's multiple edges.
Over the eons humans have asked the question 'What is good?' and depending on the times (and who you asked) the response would vary.
Is there (can there be) any such thing as a 'good job?' The LCD and the crux of the crisis capitalism blithely ignores is that only a few jobs are 'necessary' (for survival) the rest crop up from the need to perform those few and in order to do them efficiently we need to pass along knowledge but knowledge and intelligence are two separate factors that the feckless sincerely wish they could 'sort' for.
These days a 'good job' pays the bills and doesn't evaporate the second the local economy hiccups. Government jobs are generally considered 'good' for exactly this reason although of late they are not as immune to the caprice of those who would install their kin in your place (via privatization) since the 'conservative revolution' of the 1980's.
Privatization hasn't saved the taxpayer a single cent but it sure has elevated the fortunes of the 'more for me' club.
EVERYBODY knows anything that get's 'privatized' goes to the politically connected...and NOT the 'Lowest Bidder'.
Part of the reason the thinking part of the nation is so pissed off is due to the sham that privatization really is.
So it is, in a society that can't provide HALF of us with employment OF ANY KIND that we have come, once again, to parse the age old question of what is a 'good job?'
Worse, since the very foundation of predatory capitalism is 'Every individual for themselves' the competition is to get a 'good job' for YOURSELF!
Alas, NOBODY sees a problem with this [especially the dimwitted.]
Someone needs to take the cleaver the feckless use to cut such clean lines between 'good' and 'bad' and plant it right between their beady little eyes.
Stupid is a self-inflicted wound and it's own reward, talk about the 'gift' that just keeps giving!
Perhaps we discount the 'spite' factor a bit too readily in our 'mature' society, it's what carried the Kavanaugh confirmation...
