Greetings good citizen/fellow human, starting a New Year on a Hump day [considering yesterday was a 'holiday' for many of us] sort of eases us into the familiar grind rather than feeling like hitting the ground running and never catching up (our 'normal' start of the work week...although for many today is a 'second Monday' in the damn middle of the week!)
Me, I'm in perpetual Sunday. It's always Sunday but I remember the days and, ironically, today's offering got its start by rehashing what has gone before.
I was 'accused' [this morning as well as in the past] of not 'going along to get along' because those who haven't walked in my shoes are trained to think that people who are constantly changing jobs bring it upon themselves because they don't know how to 'please' the boss.
How many of you 'agree' with this, er, statement [I didn't ask you, you self important moron! It's a given that all 'bosses' to be bosses, must demand unflinching loyalty from all or they will lose the 'respect' of their 'underlings' and therein lies the rub!]
So if one's attitude is less than 'fawning', one is flirting with termination regardless of how well one performs their assigned tasks.
Indeed, many of those who suffer termination do so at the hands of those who are themselves woefully unworthy of the mantle of leadership.
A leader knows how to do the job, a boss knows who is in charge (and little else.)
Is your boss a leader? If the job is simple enough, they MIGHT be. That said knowing the job and knowing how to handle people are two separate talents and not everyone is a 'people person'. Worse, not everyone that says they are 'people persons' have the first clue of how to handle people, liking them is only one piece of a more complex problem.
Central to leadership is trustworthiness that is born of honesty. In today's toxic work environment, honesty is a liability so it is I have found myself on the outside looking in many times but I have no regrets.
The criminals running things would rather have a pliant patsy than one that will stand up for his people...and that is why I got a can tied to my ass more times than I care to count. I know HOW to play the game, the fact that I refuse to has cost me, but only professionally, I am comfortable in my own skin and sleep soundly at night.
[Yea me!]
Follow me as we step back to look at the bigger picture (Something 'the boss' never does, "because I said so" is always enough for mental midgets.)
The practice of 'taking the edge' ALWAYS justifies taking an even bigger cut the next time until you arrive where we are today. There isn't enough to go around because too many are taking 'theirs' out first.
Well, honest people call for justice but the thieves don't want anybody 'exposing' their 'cupidity'...and the only way to keep it quiet was to offer the 'pliant' a piece of the pie...after they had taken their cut, of course!
Problem with corruption is it's never enough. There is only so much and if you want more the 'easiest' targets are your fellow crooks, question is, if you start, er, 'trimming the tree' you face the danger that other branches will take notice and come down on you for the threat you pose.
That is the perfect recipe for a life of perpetual fear. Always looking over your shoulder and suspecting EVERYONE under you of having an agenda that could jeopardize your hard won position [even if you got it by screwing the boss's daughter, which is how most 'promotions' come into being.]
So, do you 'play the game' and go along to get along...or did your elders set you down when you were young and teach you that 'management' wasn't worth the sleepless nights and endless subterfuge where your future relies on being 'useful' to those above you...and not how well the department performs under your guidance?
Tangentially related is another story I read this morning about war-mongering generals and how far would you go to get stars on your epaulets? As disturbing as that story was it ignored why wars are fought in the first place...[A topic I touched upon in yesterday's offering.]
That reason is even more disturbing but you need to read it to comprehend my meaning.
If 'honesty' is the best policy, the 'sunshine' necessary to 'grow' a sustainable society you should be deeply disturbed by the 'lack of transparency' emanating from the head of the world's leaders.
If you don't KNOW what's going on it is something you WOULDN'T approve of, and that's unacceptable.
Without TRUST civilization ceases to be coherent.
Since government was established to PROTECT us from the MONEY, now that the government exists to protect the MONEY, you are 'on your own'. [Why do YOU think they are automating everything that isn't nailed to the ground?]
The MONEY doesn't need us.
If we AREN'T in this TOGETHER then it's 'us' vs THEM! [We may outnumber them 100,000 to one but they have nukes!]
Understand, 'go along to get along' is how we landed here, staring a dwindling pile of shit they laughingly call 'our share'.
I know the game and I also know a shit hand when it's dealt to me. Too honest for my own good is a self-inflicted wound but a necessary one. If you can't trust your leaders then you are doomed before you start. It's not 'my good' I'm looking out for, I honestly believe we can all be 'happy' (content and there is a LOT to be said for 'contentment') living in a world where everyone gets their fair share and all it takes to get it is to alter the rules that already exist...and put in place consequences that, er, 'discourage' treachery.
We could be living under ASP tomorrow so it's not unrealistic to set that goal of full implementation by the end of 2019.
We don't need to 'remake' the world, we just need to restore justice to a system that has been hijacked by criminals.
Easy-peasy!
Thanks once again for letting me inside your head (while you still have one!)
