Greetings good citizen, which 'type' are you? Do you live to work or work to live? While the first may more closely describe your life (and by extension, your 'lifestyle'.) Most of you think you have struck a 'balance' between life and work (although you're not beyond strapping on the boots to pick up a little 'easy money' when the opportunity presents itself.)
That said, the boss just has to say 'Saturday' to you and your head is already in motion. Sometimes Saturday isn't a 'request' but it is what it is and you do what needs doing.
So it's sort of an idiot question to ask if you're 'money driven', isn't it?
Funnier still is some people don't even realize their inner 'greed goblin' has his pitchfork so far up their backside that they think they work at every opportunity because they 'enjoy it'.
In fact, ANYONE that proclaims they're not 'money motivated' doesn't know what they're talking about.
Nope, the 'sad' part is none of you can figure out what you're doing 'wrong'. You work from dawn 'til dusk as many days as you can and you're still circling the financial drain! Why can't you get ahead?
The reasons are many (and most of them have to do with being overcharged for stuff you shouldn't have to 'buy' at all!)
Money and work are complicated but not the way you think. Work 'occupies your time' so even if your job is 'mindless' it's still something to do and it provides the 'side benefit' of allowing you to buy the stuff you need to make life, er, 'more tolerable'.
Remove money from the equation and you'd be faced with being assigned a job to do in exchange for a share in everything your clan had to offer. May not like that job much BUT it would be tons easier than having to do EVERYTHING yourself! [including the many things that can't be done alone!]
Remove yourself from society and now you live in WYSIWYG world, if you don't do it, it's not happening!
If we back up a single step, where people do what they do and share the results, we call that 'communism'...the difference between 'real' communism and the kind practiced by closeted capitalists is money doesn't enter the equation...which is to belabor the obvious, communism doesn't work WHEN YOU DO IT WRONG!
A Simple Plan uses money differently than it's ever been used before. Since money's 'single useful purpose' is to regulate access, once money is spent, it is 'eliminated', 'enriching' NO ONE!
Herein lies The Trap you've been snared with. As more money is wished into existence, it 'dilutes' the value of the money already in existence.
When I was a kid there was no such thing as a Billionaire. [Some histeronic jugglers went back and 're-priced' Rockefeller's fortune and declared him the world's first Billionaire but this is based on the value of his 'hard assets'. Today we have thousands of 'multi-billionaires'...Since J.P Getty was named the world's first Billionaire in the early 1970's.
You see, conservo-whackos don't want you to know that your money is being 'watered', it might take the 'drive' out of you.
No irony should be lost on the fact that they deny this is happening even when the evidence is everywhere. When they DO admit it they are quick to blame the 'free-spending liberals' for it.
I will once again reiterate there are only two kinds of people in this world, the rich (who without exception STOLE what they have) and the poor who are, toss a coin, either too honest or too stupid to do likewise.
Make no mistake about it, the rich 'guard the gates' closely. It's not easy to drink from the 'golden trough' without an invitation.
There are (on the surface) two political parties but ALL candidates have to pass muster with the money power, fail this 'sniff test' and you won't receive the partie's endorsement...regardless of which side you run on because both 'sides' take their marching orders from the One Percent!
But I digress...
Let us return to the question at hand; Are you 'money driven'? The real question here is 'do you have a choice?' and the short answer is indeed one of the shortest words in our vocabulary...no.
You are born into this Ponzi scheme and it's the only game in town. Social dynamics tells us we work because it fills up the day and contributes significantly to our sense of 'self-worth'...which is why 'unemployment' is such a scourge! Throw/add money into this cauldron and you have a recipe for deep rooted resentment against the society that discarded them.
Again, I am working at making my 'points' sooner but I fear most of you have 'tuned out' by the time you read this far.
I have succeeded in greatly reducing the length of these essays but without laying the groundwork, the point itself is obscured.
So we have it, money is useful but not the way those in charge of our civilization use it. They use it to give THEMSELVES a 'FREE RIDE', one that costs YOU dearly!
This is not 'jealousy' good citizen but shameful fact. The 'opportunity' to 'do the right thing' has always existed. It's no accident it hasn't been done so don't confuse/conflate 'righteous anger' with defensive 'jealousy'.
You need money AND you need a job...this isn't an 'either or' situation! (Although the self-interested/idle rich have turned it into exactly that!)
How sad is it good citizen that some [expletives] have made it their 'occupation' to screw you at every opportunity?
Again I fear I have laid too much on you at once but the puzzle is complex and sometimes you have to touch many puzzle pieces to reveal the larger picture!
Thanks for letting me inside your (aching) head (sorry!)
