Greetings good citizen, My 'go-to' site for news and information headed this morning's offering with the 'preamble' to the Declaration of Independence, widely regarded as a 'work of art' when it comes to 'wordsmithing'.
Perhaps that is the tragedy not inviting the men who penned this master work to the constitutional convention.
Seldom has the 'essence' of the human struggle been captured so poignantly. Part of the document's beauty are due to the times themself but on the whole the craftsmanship belongs to the writer that originally composed the work. A job widely attributed to Jefferson.
That said, the preamble smacks of many contributors (and probably hours of wrangling before the current version was agreed upon...)
The striking contrast here good citizen? Beautiful words do not beautiful outcomes produce.
Today eloquence has been banished from our daily discourse as being the refuge of 'Bad Big-brained Libruls!'... One doesn't know whether to weep at the tragedy or howl at the comedy of those too stupid to know the difference between a liberal and a communist. [While liberals usually know the difference between a redneck and a retard.]
Look at our presidential candidates and their 'grasp' (or decided lack thereof) of the 'issues'. Since Bernie backed off [he's down but he's not 'out' yet!] neither remaining (hand-picked by the media) candidate is even on the same planet as the bulk of the electorate, issue-wise.
Isn't that what's eating you, good citizen? The fact that our politicians are out in 'left field' on the issues that matter to our everyday life?
This morning's NY Times announced that the Trump campaign has 'retreated' to the hallowed ground of 'tax cuts' for the already wealthy (once again 'hoping' for a 'super-charged' economy as a result!) It hasn't worked before and there is no reason to expect it to work this time so why are the 'stupid conservatives' voting for what amounts to 'more of the same?' [while SCREAMING for CHANGE!]
Part of this is the 'superstitious peasant' who is easily 'herded' by the village loud-mouth [that often serves double duty as the village idiot] Always ready with a comment that most often proves thinking isn't his strong suit!
He serves the critical purpose of reminding us to keep our mouths shut or we will find ourselves suddenly marked as being the village moron.
So it is that we seldom lament the modern 'loss of eloquence' because beautiful words seldom result in beautiful outcomes...
Which is why A Simple Plan is written in plain language, it's a plan designed BY knuckleheads, FOR knuckleheads!
Which begs the question do you think anybody else noticed the 'disconnect' between the 'courtly speech' of the founding documents and the level of illiteracy that prevailed across the colonies and thought, 'this ain't going to turn out well!'
More importantly, when all anybody does these days is read [from their 'smartphone',] WHY do we have a population that claims quite adamantly that it 'doesn't read'
You have to fill in the mental blank left there. Of course everybody 'reads', they just don't read to broaden their horizons, they read what they find 'interesting'.
And, what do you suppose the average knucklehead finds 'interesting'? Look at the MSN homepage and it reads like the front page of the National Inquirer [which was forced to label itself clearly as 'for entertainment only'] Guess what the homepage of MSN [and many other of the conservo-whacko talking points echo-chambers] don't have to do, label themselves for entertainment purposes only!]
I think [may be wrong but I haven't seen it in a while] The Inquirer went out of business, it couldn't compete with the 'free versions' of themselves being posted online for the (terminally) bored to absorb.
The other missing factoid here is the average person has extremely poorly developed critical thinking skills.
So we have it, a nation of 'non-readers' that is spoon-fed manufactured lies designed to 'tittilate their hot buttons' and get them worked up over nothing.
But the 'alternative' is pages such as this one; focused on elevating your IQ while attempting to sweep aside the piles of irrelavent garbage that get heaped upon you.
In the respect that this site is 'unique' in labeling capitalism and it's primary product [the almighty dollar, in all of its forms] rubbish, most other alternative news sites are decidedly 'pro-capitalist' (largely because their authors believe it to be the 'lesser evil.')
I guess they believe economic slavery would be more tolerable if we were 'freer'. Or, perhaps they don't think that far ahead, preferring to point to the problems and allowing the public to decide what the solution should be. [Fully aware that 'consensus' is one of the most difficult things to achieve amongst our 'oddly wired' species.]
I am not a communist per se, I am an Anarchist, which is, counter to the stereo-type the mudslinging media has concocted, are not all freedom [in the extreme] loving, psycho-bombers. No, 'true' Anarchists are the capitalist's worst nightmare because we advocate eliminating legislators and voting 'directly' on the laws themselves.
Let those who must live under the law decide. It's consistent with our belief in 'equality', that all are 'equally' represented.
So long as a law passes muster with the 'anti-exploitation law', I'd be down with it. [Partly because those who get to decide if a law is put to a vote are also charged with weighing the 'greater good' a new law intends to serve. If a proposed law's purpose is to strip the protection of the law from ANY of us then it wouldn't be put up for a vote.]
SIDEBAR: While I'm droning on about A Simple Plan I wanted to add that the 'enclaves' also assumes/applies to the banding together of ANY type of lifestyle. There would also be a 'sub-set' provision where, say, Bikers and Drag race enthusiasts (both lovers of open pipes at full throttle) would be 'proximate' to one another.
As Dangerous as it may be [fantacize about whatever you like you will still be obliged to meet your required contributions to society. Which is to say you can play when it's time to play but you must work when its time to work!, our society is depending on YOU!]
One could easily imagine enclaves being created to live out 'Role Playing dramas'. The problem with this is it's not exactly a 'hobby' and people sometimes get caught up in their 'fantasy world', to the point where they ignore their obligations in the real one.
Um, ignoring your obligations have very REAL consequences so forming certain types of enclaves might well be prohibited. You can 'role play' to your heart's content...you just won't be allowed to 'live' like a fantasy character.
Yup, when we start going this far off the reservation it's time to slam on the brakes...
Thanks once again for letting me inside your head.
