Greetings good citizen, time is tight today as I have Dr's appointments back to back today.
Nobody has anything good to say about this getting old crap!
Um, today's topic, elected, raises one of the many things we need to change about our governing process. You 'elect' a prom queen but you don't let her run the class.
So what's up with electing public officials, many of whom are not qualified to perform the job.
A reverse question would be 'how can I complain about our elected officials being 'meat puppets' when that's exactly what they qualify to be?
But since the tools don't exist to alter the system we've been saddled with, it's sort of a moot point.
Not that it's ever been tried before but wouldn't it be better to select candidates from a pool of qualified individuals, awarding the 'most qualified' the job for as long as he or she performs it successfully? [With the caveat that there be a re-qualifying contest every two years to insure the best candidate holds the position?]
Now, not only does this 'make sense' on the 'top job' but we should run this way through the entire spectrum.
Now you could truly start out pushing a broom and end up as the leader of the...world.
Yes good citizen, we could finally risk 'global government' with this kind of a transparent system in place.
Would the tests for leadership be difficult? Not so much if you possess the 'right stuff'. More than a fair degree of intestinal fortitude and the ability to think on your feet, predicting opponents moves with a better than average degree of accuracy.
Although, most tests will be centered on the 'baby in the bathwater'...will you throw out the baby to win the contest?
Do so and you lose.
The competence of leaders would be assurred because they have been vetted at every rung of their ascent.
That way you get to save your 'vote' for the important things, like figuring out where the trans-gendered should do their business. (Not that stupid fringe issues should ever get that far. Voting is for laws, not lawmakers who never consult you.)
Just an idea...and all things start as 'thought experiments'. Look at where the 'popularity contest' has taken us...and don't forget to look in both directions...where we're headed and where we've been.
This election cycle you're being tasked with the most important choice you've ever been asked to make. First you must boycott the election than you must participate in the strike that follows...for as long as it takes to bring down our evil overlords.
Time is flying and I must go, thank you for letting me inside your head,
Gegner
