Greetings good citizen, even futurists didn't get it right about certain things (flying cars are just for starters.) Some of them saw the burgeoning (and now very real) 'population explosion' and predicted that government would absorb the new entries into the laborforce, a belief primarily driven by the card file and the typewriter, both fairly recent innovations.
Who knew computers were just around the corner?
It seems they also forgot something else...the 'purpose of government'. I saw yet another call for a 'third party' this morning and chuckled to myself...what do people these days think the purpose of the government is?
You'd think with all those flag waving, hero worshiping patriots among us the government's primary purpose is to send our children off to protect us from those dip-dang terrorists!
Why heck, EVERY ONE of the Republican candidates stated publicly that they were running not for president but for 'Commander-in-Chief'!
Do you see a problem here? The founders would have!
But Dick and Jane common person has come to believe that the government exists to 'keep us safe'...when that IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL.
Yeah, government, our flavor in particular, (it is not and hasn't been ours for a long time!) was established to 'protect'...but it's not like that. The government's primary job is to protect YOUR RIGHTS!
That said, they're not doing a very good job of it, are they?
And whose fault is that? Don't happen to have a mirror handy, do ya?
Truth be told, the real failure here lies alongside the reason Johnny can't read...because teachers can't teach! Quite literally they have been hamstrung when it comes to teaching your kids about the purpose and the structure of government.
Because the government has been 'changing' since 'Morning in America' and things are no longer how they were intended to be.
Worse, kids born after the Reagan Revolution don't know it used to be different.
Yes, illuminating the past to protect the future is one of the futurist's jobs...
Party politics were created to provide cover for the 'unpopular policies' those who wanted to feast at the taxpayer's expense would usher in.
How sad is it that all it took was the 'idea' a rift existed to bring us today's overbearing Nanny State that scrutinizes your every move in the name of 'public safety'?
We are NOT divided, good citizen but the corporate owned media and those who would have you believe all kinds of nonsense would have you believe otherwise.
Because you are and remain ignorant of the purpose of government [again because certain self-interested parties 'need' the government to have more 'scope' than it was originally intended to have...because like the monarchies of old, the government can use the 'will of the people' card (often played as the 'public safety' rubric) even if the people don't support whatever the self-interested want to ram down your throat.]
Which is to opine that a government 'of the people, by the people and for the people' died in it's crib without ever drawing a breath. Murdered by the self-interested...although they're better known as our wannabe 'Lords'.
In that respect the British parliment got it right. They placed the labels where they belonged and there wasn't any question regarding which party you 'belonged' to because it was determined by your birth.
You were either a 'Commoner' or a Lord, a royal peer.
This also puts a spotlight on the two alleged mindsets that fight so bitterly. Conservatives want to 'preserve' [their ancient power] and liberals want to limit that power to help the species advance.
Yet another, 'thinly veiled' political masquerade is the matter of 'foreign interests' that we are forever sending the military off to protect.
A nation is a nation and has zero 'foreign interests' but corporations are nationless...and sometimes they run afoul of the laws of one of their 'hosts'...and that government need to be taught a lesson.
This is why conservatives are 'hawks'. They call it 'defense but have you noticed who does all of the attacking once the 'false flag' operation stirs up the pot?
It also explains why (true) conservatives are RICH. Left for you to puzzle is how YOUR children dying to protect their interests serves you will probably break your brain but there it is...especially if you consider yourself a 'conservative'...or that Libertarian half-breed, a 'fiscal conservative but socially liberal'.
And Libertarians are scum of the worst variety.
Said the guy who calls himself one of the most reviled political persuasions of all because the capitalist slavers are horrified at the idea of people voting directly on the laws they must live under.
Laws should be few and simple, just as rights should be absolute.
So what it comes down to is whether you want the self-interested to think for you or if you want to insure that nobody sends you or yours off to die to protect THEIR interests, masquerading as national interests?
It is astounding when you think about it, how often the greatest cause of misery is directly attributable to 'ignorance'.
With that said, I thank you for letting me inside your head,
Gegner
PS: Now you be 'educated'.
