O.C.D. How widespread is it?

Greetings good citizen: As I tell you endlessly, one of the critical pillars of civilization is Equality. If you take a quick check you will observe that our present society is anything but. You also needn't look too far today to see a society that is being ripped apart by that same 'inequity'.

Missing from today's mix is the former aversion to 'conspicious wealth'. If you were well off it was considered 'bad taste' to, er, 'flaunt' your 'good fortune' in front of others...[in the years following the Great Depression the wealthy hid out of fear of being lynched!]

But that was then and this is now! Although you'd be hard pressed to pick a non-celebrity Brahmin out from their more mundane peers because these days even the poor 'dress to impress'.

However, the eyewash is always the last pretense to drop. That said, it doesn't take a 'trained eye' to detect that most of the 'wannabes' are getting a little 'tattered' around the edges.

And the marked increase in people who gave up even trying to 'fake it' long ago only serves to give the impression that we're all 'rag-pickers' again.

The surest way to detect the 'well-off' is their car. Wannabes drive expensive german cars or at the very least one of the 'Japanese Cadillacs' while our well-off 'betters' don't drive at all.

But I digress, don't I?

Not really. One of my other 'frequently shared' observations is how we're neck deep in STUPID around here!

People who judge people based on what they drive have obviously missed the point that the truly well off don't. They also miss out on the distinction that what you drive or don't drive does not a 'better person' make.

It is this same class of imbecile that views 'giving' (to anyone besides themself) ANYTHING as an act of reckless 'liberalism'.

Ironically, this 'mental defect' is driven by their need to be 'better' than those 'other people'.

It is this obsession with 'measuring' that drives the ideological differences between the two parties. Conservatives only want to 'give til it hurts' to the already well-off, the only ones (in their eyes) who are 'deserving' of our largesse.

So when we talk about our 'fair share', what are we talking about, precisely? Where, precisely, is YOUR 300 millionth of the nation?

Are you SHOCKED that less than one percent own more than 60% of the country?

You shouldn't be. The 'theft' of the 'common wealth' started long before there was a nation to steal [without getting into WHO it ALL was stolen FROM! Another can of worms altogether!]

More irony (if you can stand it) is how those with 'weights and measures' permanently probing all around them do so under the pretense of insuring they are getting their 'fair share'...failing that, they plan on giving GOD a full accounting of how they got SCREWED by all those other greedy, so and so's and use this information as a bargaining chip to cover their own transgressions.

Did I mention we're also neck-deep in nut-jobs? I mean some real class A 'whack-a-doodles!'

Back to the beginning. Again the source is the NY Times, that rag famous for its 'bleeding liberalism' that manages to remain mute on the topics of homelessness and the death toll rabid capitalism has inflicted upon an totally unwary society.

Well, once again, displaying the same 'faulty logic' championed by the 'more education' crowd, proponents of the national minimum income plan ignore the role employment plays in our civilization.

Now some people CAN'T work for/with anybody else, they're just not built to follow instructions (as dumb as that may sound on the surface, you are really 'underestimating' the depth of stupidity that plagues our species.)

Civilization literally involves the 'blending' of many talents to make a superior outcome for the members. Many of these talents rely on cooperation but others are solitary pursuits while all of them make up the whole.

So paying people for breathing [which is a decent approximation of what the 'owner class' does] ISN'T a 'new idea'. The cash strapped 'enterprenuer class' is lobbying for an income for all scheme to increase their customer base

The 'free college' scheme is driven by the politicians that believe in their hearts that more education will produce SOMEBODY who will introduce us to a way of creating good paying jobs without busting the Federal budget.

If not for the ginormous government payroll [funding the alphabet soup of spy agencies] we'd be a nation of paupers! [Such is the reality of Capitalism.]

So when they start talking about 'guaranteed income plans' just be aware that like Mexico, where the minimum wage is also the maximum wage, it's a two-edged sword.

Haven't you been cut enough? The Capitalist (especially the 'mini' ones) are NOT 'your friends'.

Under A Simple Plan you are guaranteed a 'living wage' but your pay is more dependant on your talent/skill level. Another 'driver' (of pay) are jobs people are 'disinclined' to do/pursue.

Another major difference between capitalism and A Simple Plan is the latter isn't 'profit based', the huge handicap that plagues capitalism and prevents improvements to social welfare.

If the term 'social welfare' sets your teeth on edge, run, don't walk to the nearest psychological health facility and have yourself admitted!

If you are not part of the solution [we MUST ALL SHARE THIS planet!] Then you are a part of THE PROBLEM!

Thanks for letting me inside your head,

Gegner
